Men's Soccer Falls At Caldwell, 3-1; Completes Season

Box Score
CALDWELL, N.J. – Senior defender Jonathan Mensah (Accra, Ghana) scored his first Felician College goal, but the Golden Falcons were defeated, 3-1, by host Caldwell University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The match marked the end of the 2014 season for Felician (2-16, 2-10 CACC).

Caldwell (11-5, 8-4) received two goals from senior Steve Petrosino (Toms River, N.J.). Cougar junior Christian Castro (Clifton, N.J.) recorded a goal and an assist. Both players now have 10 goals for the season, tied for fourth in the CACC.

Caldwell jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 16 minutes of action. Mensah cut the Felician deficit in half in the 23rd minute with an unassisted goal from 20 yards away. It was his first goal since tallying twice for Essex County College in 2012. The Cougars carried the 2-1 edge into halftime.

Petrosino gave the hosts some breathing room when he converted on a header 11:42 into the second period. Despite the back and forth nature of the affair, neither team was able to score again. Caldwell goalkeepers Michael Hartmann (Medford, N.J.) and Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) combined for eight saves, including four in the last 30 minutes.

Caldwell out-shot the Golden Falcons, 16-12, although the visitors held a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks. Senior keeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J.) made four saves for Felician.
