Box Score WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven picked up two goals in the first 18 minutes of its 4-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over visiting Felician College on Saturday afternoon at Kayo Field.
Senior forward Andres Torres (Medellin, Colombia) sent New Haven (1-2) off to the fast start, scoring in the 12th minute and again six minutes, 18 seconds later. The Chargers clustered a pair of goals again later in the period, when Louis Tambini (Nottingham, England) and Frank Norosky (Groton, Conn.) tallied 2:43 apart in the 35th and 38th minutes. UNH scored on half of its eight first-half shot attempts.
The Chargers finished the day with edges of 5-1 in corner kicks and 15-6 in shots. Felician seniors Jonathan Mensah (Accra, Ghana), Rafa Coronel (Mexico City, Mexico) and Alex Jean (Notre Dame de Londres, France) got off two shots apiece, and senior goalkeeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J.) was credited with three saves.
UNH freshman keeper Marc Scelsa (Islip, N.Y.) made three saves to earn his first collegiate shutout. Alain Laurent (Attleboro, Mass.) picked up two assists, and Torres and Tambini led all players with four shots apiece.
Felician (0-4) begins Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play when it travels to Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
