Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Dominican (N.Y.) College scored with nine minutes, 21 seconds, to play in regulation to earn a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over visiting Felician College on Tuesday afternoon on the Dominican campus. Felician was playing its 2014 CACC opener.
Sophomore midfielder Calogero Curucu (Middle Village, N.Y.) picked up the game-winner from six yards away. Classmate Panagiotis Kanganis (Patras, Greece) assisted on the play.
All of the day's scoring came in the second half. The Chargers (2-2, 1-1 CACC) first dented the scoreboard in the 58th minute, when junior Andres Colombo (Goteborg, Sweden) tallied unassisted on a 25-yard blast. Felician knocked in the door in the 66th minute when a Kabari Palmer (Kingston, Jamaica) header clanged off the crossbar.
Then, with 21:58 left in regulation, the Golden Falcons equalized. Senior midfielder Danny Hoyos (Perth Amboy, N.J.) nabbed his first goal of the season off a feed from classmate Rafa Coronel (Mexico City, Mexico).
After Curucu's goal, Felician's best chance to re-knot the game came on a corner kick in the 85th minute. The Golden Falcons, however, committed a foul while Alex Jean's (Notre Dame de Londres, France) kick was in the air, and the visitors never got off another shot the rest of the way.
The Chargers owned edges of 11-5 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks. Coronel was the only Golden Falcon other than Hoyos to put a shot on goal. Dominican senior Luis DelPezo (Portchester, N.Y.) led all players with three shots. Senior goalkeeper Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) made three saves for Felician (0-5, 0-1).
