Box Score WILMINGTON, Del. -- Chowan University scored in the fourth minute and went on to a 3-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over Felician College during the Goldey-Beacom College Kickoff Classic on Sunday afternoon at Churchman-Sawin Field.
Freshman midfielder Terrell Williamson (Alexandria, Va.) registered two goals and an assist for Chowan (2-1), which held Felician to six shot attempts and one corner kick for the day. Williamson has five goals in three games this season.
Williamson's cross across the box set up classmate Barkan Koeprueluegil (Berlin, Germany), who found the back of the net just three minutes, three seconds into the contest. Williamson converted on a header in the 33rd minute to give the Hawks a 2-0 halftime advantage.
After getting off two shots in the opening period, the Golden Falcons took three in the first six minutes of the second half, including forcing Chowan junior goalkeeper Marco Lujan (Tijuana, Mexico) to make his only save. But the opportunities dried up for Felician after that point, and Williamson got free on a breakaway with 10:03 remaining to secure the victory for the Hawks.
The match was physically played, with Chowan being whistled for 23 fouls and Felician for 14, including four cautions. Rafa Coronel (Mexico City, Mexico), Jonathan Mensah (Accra, Ghana), and Hector Ramirez (Passaic, N.J.) took two shots apiece for the Golden Falcons, who gave up 13 attempts and four corners.
Freshman John Burns (Saddle Brook, N.J.) made his college debut in goal in the second half for Felician and picked up four saves.
