Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Felician College sliced a 14-point second-half deficit to four in the final minute before suffering a 74-69 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball loss to the host University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Morgan Arena. USciences, which won its sixth consecutive game, is ranked No. 3 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll and received votes nationally.
Devil senior forward Garret Kerr (Moorestown, N.J.), a 2014 D-II All-American, produced game highs of 32 points and 14 rebounds. Kerr, who played the entire 40 minutes, shot 12 of 20 from the floor and 7 for 9 at the foul line. Senior forwards J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) and Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.) scored 23 and 21 points, respectively, for Felician, and each grabbed nine rebounds.
The first nine minutes of the game featured six ties and six lead changes. But after Kerr hit a jump shot with 11 minutes, 17 seconds, left in the opening period, the Devils never trailed again. USciences was ahead, 29-21, on two Flo Da-Silva (Moorestown, N.J.) free throws with 6:26 to go in the half. The hosts led by as many as 12 points before settling for a 39-31 halftime advantage. Kerr had 20 points at the break.
The Devils stretched the lead to 14 on a transition lay-up by Sho Da-Silva (Moorestown, N.J.) with 12:45 left in regulation time. USciences matched that advantage two other times, and still led, 71-60 with 2:51 to play. But Pringley went 5 for 6 at the foul line, sandwiching a Damiun Moore (Manchester, N.J.) jumper, to pull the visitors to within 71-67 at 0:57.
USciences junior Dylan Kerwin (Basking Ridge, N.J.) stole the ball from the Golden Falcons on their next possession, and Sho Da-Silva split a pair of free throws. Felician misfired on the other end, and when Kerr made 1 of 2 at the foul line, the Devils' six-point edge with 0:15 remaining was safe.
Moore finished with 10 points and six assists, and junior guard Lamine Cooper (Willingboro, N.J.) tallied nine points for Felician (3-15, 3-9). The USciences bench outscored the Golden Falcons', 27-0, led by 15 points in 24 minutes from Sho Da-Silva.
Felician is 3 ½ games out of playoff position in the CACC North Division with seven left to play. The Devils lead the CACC South.
