Men's Soccer Loses To Caldwell, Completes Season

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician College men's soccer team completed its 2015 season with a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to visiting Caldwell University on Thursday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Junior defender Kesi Lewis (Arima, Trindad & Tobago/Queen's Royal College) scored his first career goal for Felician (2-15, 1-11 CACC).

Prior to the match, Golden Falcon senior forward Corey Telfer (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) was honored in Senior Day ceremonies.

Caldwell (4-12-1, 3-7-1) opened the scoring in the game's 29th minute. Sophomore Enrico Frietag (Magdeburg, Germany/Norbertus Gym) played a ball wide to junior Jakub Havlak (Prague, Czech Republic). Almost immediately, Havlak crossed the ball to the goal mouth, where freshman Noah Pederson (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) finished with one touch for his first collegiate score.

The Golden Falcons obtained the equalizer just more than five minutes later. Freshman Dean Wright (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Choilm) was able to free himself of his defender just long enough to send a high cross to the middle of the 18-yard box. Lewis, playing in his 46th career match, headed the ball inside the left post.

The Cougars tallied the eventual game-winner in the 64th minute. Joaquin Escudero (San Sebastian, Spain/San Igbacio) played a ball ahead to freshman Italo Cardoso (Monroe, N.J./South Plainfield). Cardoso's low shot hit the bottom right of the left post and rolled over the goal line. The Felician offense came up empty on three shots and two corner kicks in the final 26 minutes.

Caldwell sophomore keeper Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) entered at halftime and made two saves to pick up the victory. The Cougars owned a 12-9 shot advantage, with Pederson topping the Cougars with three. Jorge Pelayo (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) got off three shots for the Golden Falcons. Felician sophomore keeper John Burns (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) made four saves.
