Bloomsburg Men Score In 83rd Minute To Escape Felician

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Regionally-ranked Bloomsburg University scored in the 83rd minute to escape with a 2-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over host Felician College on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Bloomsburg (7-1) is ranked No. 5 in the most recent NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional coaches' poll, and received votes nationally.

Felician (1-6), which trailed, 1-0, at halftime, equalized in the 59th minute on an unassisted goal by freshman Kenny Monfort (Spring Valley, N.Y./St. Joseph-Montvale [N.J.]). Monfort was able to launch a shot across the box into the upper right corner of the frame.

As the game clock wound under eight minutes, a shot by Husky junior Josh Smith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was saved by Felician sophomore goalkeeper John Burns (Saddle Brook, N.J.). But the Golden Falcon defense was unable to clear the ball, and Bloomsburg sophomore Hamilton Rodkey (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) pushed another shot past Burns with 7:16 to play. Monfort got off two shots in the closing minutes, but both were saved by Bloomsburg sophomore keeper Taylor LeSage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton).

Rodkey had given the Huskies the lead at the 19:47 mark when he knocked home a cross from Spencer Conrad (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro).

Bloomsburg out-shot the Golden Falcons, 18-9. Monfort was the most active Golden Falcon with four shot attempts. Burns made eight saves, and LeSage earned the victory with four stops.
