Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University fell behind, 19-2, after nearly eight minutes of an eventual 75-49 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball loss to visiting Bloomfield College on Wednesday evening at Job Gymnasium. Bloomfield (14-5, 10-0) is ranked No. 7 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll.

Felician (1-16, 1-9) received a season-high 12 points from freshman forward Remi Iwelu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin). Iwelu made 6 of 8 field-goal attempts in 17 minutes off the Golden Falcon bench. Senior guard Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, Va./Lake Taylor) led four double-figure scorers for the Bears with 16 points.

Bloomfield, which never trailed, held Felician scoreless through four minutes, but was only able to open up a 5-0 lead. A Treanda Foster (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) lay-up put the hosts on the scoreboard with 5:59 left in the first quarter, but the Bears rolled off 14 consecutive points over the next three minutes, 40 seconds of game time. Bloomfield was ahead, 21-7, after one period, and its 41-20 halftime advantage was its largest of the first half.

The Golden Falcons never came closer than a 20-point deficit for the rest of the night. Bloomfield led, 57-34, after three periods, and by as many as 31 on two occasions late in the fourth.

Bloomfield junior Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y./Paramus Catholic [N.J.]) scored 10 first-half points before finishing with 12. Sophomore Jahniece Jaffe (Egg Harbor, N.J./Tallahassee CC) netted 11 points in 15 bench minutes, and senior Chyna Golden (Neptune, N.J./University of Pittsburgh) totaled 10 points, 14 rebounds and three assists. The Bears owned a 47-21 rebounding advantage.

Felician forced 27 Bear turnovers, but committed 23 of its own. The hosts were also hampered by an 8-for-23 performance at the foul line. Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y./Oak Hill Academy [Va.]) had nine points for the Golden Falcons, and Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) ended up with eight.
