Goldey-Beacom Women Win Fourth Quarter, Game From Felician

Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Goldey-Beacom College women's basketball team outscored host Felician University, 20-12, in the fourth quarter to earn an 81-73 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Golden Falcons on Wednesday evening at Job Gymnasium.

Felician (1-13, 1-6 CACC) was defeated despite producing a season-high offensive output. Golden Falcon sophomore guard Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) scored a career-high 25 points. Freshman swing player Hannah Johnson (Jersey City, N.J./Saint Dominic Academy) turned in 14 points and seven rebounds for Felician, both season bests.

Sophomore guard Lexi Bruno (Millville, N.J./Millville) topped Goldey-Beacom with 24 points and a game-high seven assists. Both Osmond and Bruno canned five three-point field goals.

After trailing for the entire third quarter, GBC closed the period with an 8-2 run, including a transition lay-up by Britani Bryson (Hampton, Va./Bethel) in the closing seconds, to tie the score at 61-61. With the teams knotted at 63-63, consecutive driving lay-ups by Jazz Lewis (Mount Holly, N.J./Rancocas Valley), the latter with 6:47 to play, gave the visitors the lead for good.

The Lightning pushed the lead to 70-65 on a three-point play by Tanner Turner-Rush (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) at the 6:01 mark, and that score held until Osmond's steal and lay-up with 4:14 to play. After the teams traded points, GBC grabbed a pair of offensive rebounds and was able to whittle the clock down to 2:08 before Bryson split a pair of free throws for a 73-69 lead. The Lightning obtained the defensive stops they needed down the stretch, and extended to an eight point lead on a Bryson putback at 0:39.

Both teams placed four scorers in double figures. Felician senior Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y./Oak Hill Academy [Va.]) registered 16 points, six rebounds and five assists, and teammate Treanda Foster (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) (5-5 FG) scored a season-high 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Bryson totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Lewis had 15 points and seven boards. Turner-Rush scored 12 points, all after halftime, and grabbed nine rebounds as the Lightning built a 47-31 rebounding advantage.

Felician led, 20-16, after one period, and 39-34 at halftime.
