Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Felician University men's soccer team concluded its 2016 season with a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday afternoon on the Dominican campus.
Felician finished with an overall won-lost-tied record of 4-11-2 after posting a 2-15 mark in 2015. The Golden Falcons were 3-8-1 in CACC play.
On Tuesday, Dominican (5-11, 4-7) dented the scoreboard with 25:02 gone by in the match on an unassisted goal from senior James Gragson (Topeka, Kan.). The Chargers carried the 1-0 lead into halftime, but Gragson struck again in the 54th minute.
The Golden Falcons had trouble generating many serious scoring opportunities. But with 17:50 remaining in regulation time, they were able to halve the deficit on senior Martin Williams' (Brooklyn, N.Y.) sixth score of the season. Freshman Christopher McLaughlin (Hollis, N.Y.) was credited with an assist on the play.
However, Williams' goal turned out to be Felician's only shot attempt of the second period. The Chargers out-shot the Golden Falcons, 14-1, in the half and 24-6 for the day. Junior Rickyle Balea (Brisbane, Australia) secured the win for the hosts by tallying his first of the year with 1:05 to play.
Junior goalkeeper John Burns (Saddle Brook, N.J.) made nine saves for Felician. Dominican freshman Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain), who assisted on Gragson's second goal, led all players with seven shots.
