Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Georgian Court University came up with an unassisted score with 19 minutes, 53 seconds, to play in regulation and went on to a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over host Felician University on Saturday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Goalkeeper Jasur Tursunboyev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan/Tashkent International) kept Felician (0-4-2, 0-1-1 CAC) within striking distance all night, finishing with 10 saves.
On the game winning goal, a ball was played into the right side of the Felician 18-yard box. The ball caromed off a Golden Falcon defender, and GCU sophomore Will Green (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) took it out of the air, sending a hard shot past Tursunboyev and inside the near post.
The Lions out-shot Felician 18-9, and successfully defended two late Golden Falcon free kicks in the offensive third without the hosts getting off a shot. Freshman keeper Yianni Karavakas (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) was forced to make three saves to earn his first career shutout.
Junior Christopher McLaughlin (Hollis, N.Y./Preparatory Academy for Writers) came off the bench to top Felician with three shot attempts.
