Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Senior midfielder Martin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 31 seconds into overtime to lift Felician University to a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over host Philadelphia University on Saturday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.
Felician transfer goalkeeper Jasur Tursunboyev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) made three saves to earn his first shutout as a Golden Falcon.
Felician (1-5-2, 1-2-1) threatened but could not score in the opening half. The Golden Falcons had five corner kick opportunities and got off nine shots, with Williams hitting the crossbar in the closing minutes of the period.
Early in the second half, the Ram defense twice denied Felician's Charlie Macaskill (London, England), clearing a Macaskill shot off of the goal line and then blocking a rebound attempt. The Golden Falcons also had a potential goal called back by an offside call in the 65th minute. After Felician successfully defended a Philadelphia corner kick in the 86th minute, the teams headed for overtime.
Williams' game-winner was unassisted. He dribbled down the left side, cut into the 18-yard box and finished for his fourth goal of the season
Felician finished the day with advantages of 16-11 in shots and 6-4 in corners. Ram keeper Eric Gutierrez (Croydon, Pa.) had five saves.
The Golden Falcons snapped winless streaks of 16 matches overall and 13 in a row on the road.
Felician returns home to take on Bloomfield College on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
