Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Bloomfield College snapped a scoreless tie with a pair of second-half goals four minutes, three seconds, apart and went on to a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over host Felician University on Tuesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Senior forward/midfielder Hugues Douyon (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Alexander Petion) picked up a goal and an assist for Bloomfield (3-4-1, 2-2-1 CACC).
Felician had the first two decent scoring opportunities of the day, including a header by Charlie Macaskill (London, England/Burlington Danes Academy) that went wide of the frame just 40 seconds into the contest. Martin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wingate) sent a low shot wide in the 11th minute. Golden Falcon goalkeeper Jasur Tursunboyev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan/Tashkent International) made three first-period saves to keep the game even, including one from close range of a Mauricio Torrealba (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Lake Tahoe CC) offering in the closing minutes of the half.
In the 51st minute, the Bears were awarded a corner kick. Douyon's strike to the far post was volleyed into the air near the goal line by teammate William Baah (Pawtucket, R.I./Massasoit CC). Bloomfield freshman Nahuel Pereyra (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) headed home his first career goal at the 50:59 mark.
Shortly thereafter, it was Douyon on the receiving end of a diagonal cross from Rafique Roberts (Portmore, Jamaica/Munro College). With 34:58 left to play, Douyon sent a low shot across the box to give the Bears the 2-0 edge.
Felician's best opportunity the rest of the way came on a series of three corner kicks in the 61st and 62nd minutes. The Golden Falcons (1-6-2, 1-3-1) saw one shot get blocked, and a header from Macaskill sail over the crossbar.
Bloomfield held a slight 10-8 advantage in shots for the match. The teams combined for 46 fouls and eight cautions.
