PHILADELPHIA – The Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team surrendered a 14-point second-half deficit, then built another one, in an eventual 82-75 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Felician University on Saturday afternoon at Sorgenti Arena.

All five Chestnut Hill starters scored in double figures, led by 18 points and six steals from junior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.). Sophomore forward Kameron Stone (Bronx, N.Y.) came off the bench to pace Felician (5-15, 4-9 CACC) with 16 points.

The Griffins (12-7, 8-5) scored the first 12 points of the second half, extending a 32-30 halftime advantage to a 14-point edge, their largest of the day, with seven minutes left in the third period. Still behind, 50-39, at the 4:40 mark of the quarter, the Golden Falcons embarked on a 12-0 run, including seven by Stone, and went ahead on a Remi Iwelu (Brooklyn, N.Y.) lay-up with 1:43 to go in the third.

CHC took the lead for good on its next possession when Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) drained a three-pointer, and ended the quarter with a 57-51 edge. With 7:35 remaining in the contest, the Griffins were ahead, 68-54, making it a 18-3 run spanning the quarters after Iwelu had put the visitors on top. Felician came as close as 80-75, but then then, only 0:45 remained, and the Golden Falcons were unable to score again.

Felician shot 50 percent from the field (29 for 58) and from three-point range (8 for 16), but its offensive efforts were hampered by 31 turnovers. Golden Falcon freshman Safiyyah Lee (Voorhees, N.J.) totaled 13 points, nine rebounds and five steals, and junior Marya Trapp (Red Bank, N.J.) finished with 11 points.

Felician sophomore guard Danelle Gibson (Bronx, N.Y.) netted seven points and was credited with 12 assists. The latter total was the most by a Golden Falcon in a game since Tierra Cleaves handed out a school-record 14 assists on Feb. 4, 2010. Iwelu turned in seven points and nine rebounds.

CHC received 17 points from Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) and 16 from Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.). Kuhnen contributed 15 points, and sophomore guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) stuffed the boxscore with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals.

Felician jumped out to a 13-6 lead after six minutes of play. By the end of the first quarter, however, the Golden Falcons trailed, 19-15. The game contained nine lead changes in all.

Felician returns home to take on Post University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J.
