NYACK, N.Y. – Despite 16 points and 12 rebounds from junior forward Marya Trapp (Red Bank, N.J.), the Felician University women's basketball team was defeated, 72-60, by host Nyack College on Tuesday evening at Bowman Gymnasium. Nyack gained a split of the season series between the teams. The game marked the conclusion of the 2016-17 season for both schools.

Graduate student Tayelor McCalister (Akron, Ohio) led four double-figure scorers for the Warriors (5-21, 3-16 CACC) with 19 points, six assists and four steals. Sophomore forward Kameron Stone (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded 11 points and seven rebounds in 14 bench minutes for Felician (6-20, 5-14).

A steal and lay-up by Golden Falcon sophomore Kayla Hourany (Queens, N.Y.) beat the first quarter buzzer, allowing the visitors to trail 24-18. Both teams struggled offensively in period two. Felician was still down by six when a three-point field goal by Nyack's Alison Rozzi (Highland, N.Y.) in the final minute of the half handed the Warriors a 35-26 halftime advantage.

The Golden Falcons never trimmed their deficit below eight points for the rest of the night. Nyack assumed its largest edge, 46-28, on a three by Yamalis Villegas (Cherry Hill, N.J.) with 6:02 to play in the third quarter. The Warriors scored on their last two possessions of the quarter and led, 55-40, at the buzzer.

In the fourth, Felician sophomore Danelle Gibson (Bronx, N.Y.) scored seven points in a 9-2 run that brought the visitors to within 59-51 at the 3:39 mark. But four free throws by Kelli Smoot (Baltimore, Md.) restored at 13-point edge with 1:42 to play.

Nyack held the Golden Falcons to 30-percent shooting from the field, including 4 of 24 (17 percent) from distance. The Warriors also converted 29 Felician turnovers into 30 points. Freshman Bryanna Brown (Harlem. N.Y.) finished with 15 points and six steals for the hosts.
