Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – The Felician University men's basketball team placed five scorers in double figures and committed a season-low eight turnovers in its 86-67 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the host University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Morgan Arena.

Freshman swingman Jay'von Jackson (Plainfield, N.J.) topped the visitors with 16 points. Jackson was 4 for 7 from three-point range, helping Felician (5-8, 3-3 CACC) match a season high with 12 threes. Felician junior guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J.) recorded 15 points and a career-best nine assists. Senior center Brendan Crawford (Haddonfield, N.J.) led USciences (5-10, 2-4) with 16 points and six rebounds.

The lead changed hands five times in the first half. Midway through the period, the Devils took their largest lead of the day, 22-15, following a four-point play by Brandon Starr (Glenn Mills, Pa.).

But Felician embarked upon a 19-2 run over the next seven minutes of game time. During the spurt, the Golden Falcons took the lead for good on a trifecta by Rachid Shimou (Piscataway, N.J.) with 7:42 showing on the game clock. The Golden Falcons led by as many as 10 during the period and 39-32 at halftime.

Felician grabbed control of the game in the early stages of period two. Jackson's third three-pointer of the half gave the visitors a 16-point bulge with 16:34 to play. By the 13:30 mark, the Golden Falcons expanded to a 62-40 spread following a layup by Isiah Hinton-Gray (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Felician's largest lead of the afternoon came at the 11:09 mark, 68-44, on a jump shot from freshman Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.). In all, the Golden Falcons outscored USciences, 34-12, over the first nine minutes of the second stanza.

The Devils went on a 10-0 run to pull to within 68-54 with 8:15 remaining, but never drew closer.

Felician shot 49 percent from the field and recorded 22 assists on its 32 field goals. Senior Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) turned in 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for the Golden Falcons. Shimou finished with 13 points and five assists, and junior Jeff Lewis (Sicklerville, N.J.) came off the bench to net 12 points.

Paddy Casey (Scranton, Pa.) scored 11 points and Jordan White (Tampa, Fla.) had 10 for USciences. The Devils gave away 17 turnovers, which Felician converted into 26 points.

Felician, which defeated Concordia (N.Y.) College in its last start on Jan. 8, has won consecutive games for the first time in nearly a year. The Golden Falcons captured road victories over Holy Family University and Nyack College on Jan. 13 and 16, 2018, but had not won back-to-back contests since.

The Golden Falcons return home on Wednesday to face Bloomfield College at 8 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J. The Bears are 6-0 in CACC play.
