Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Felician University men's soccer team saw a four-game road unbeaten streak ended with a 4-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Thomas Jefferson University on Saturday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.
Jefferson (5-8-2, 3-6-1 CACC) compiled an 18-4 advantage in shots. The Golden Falcons have been out-shot in five of their six victories this season, but this time were held off the scoreboard by the Ram defense.
Jefferson broke through during the 34th minute on a Mohamed Jawara (Paris, France) score, and led, 1-0, at halftime. The Rams took control when senior Michele Ganz (Vallada Agordina, Italy) scored twice during the first 21 minutes of period two, then added a marker with 9:28 remaining for the final margin. Jawara finished with a goal and an assist.
Senior goalkeeper George Hernandez (Paterson, N.J.) made five saves in defeat for the Golden Falcons (6-7-1, 5-4). The teams were whistled for a combined eight yellow caution cards (5-3 Felician).
The ninth-place Rams kept their CACC playoff hopes alive with the victory. Felician sits in seventh place and can fall no lower. The top eight teams at season's end will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament, which begins on Nov. 8.
Felician had a string of seven consecutive matches decided by one goal or fewer come to an halt. It was 5-2-1 during that stretch. The Golden Falcons' last road loss before Saturday came on Sept. 21 at Nyack College.
Felician travels to Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The game will be played at the Orangetown Soccer Complex.
