Lee's 22/21 Effort Leads Women's Basketball Past Bloomfield, 69-63

Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Redshirt sophomore guard/forward Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J./Irvington) totaled 22 points and 21 rebounds to lead Felician University to a 69-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over visiting Bloomfield College on Wednesday evening at Job Gymnasium. The game tipped off 2021-22 CACC action for both schools.

Lee became the first player in the 26-year history of the Felician program to record multiple "20/20" games in a career. As a true freshman, she collected 25 points and 20 rebounds on Feb. 12, 2020, also during a home victory over Bloomfield.

Junior guard Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain/Lycee Moliere) scored 18 points and freshman guard Courtney Logan (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) added 12 points for the Golden Falcons (2-4, 1-0 CACC). Sophomore forward Myasia Jackson (Trenton, N.J./Ewing) led Bloomfield with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Felician assumed control early. The hosts led, 18-13, after one period, and stretched to a 37-24 bulge at halftime. The Golden Falcons took their largest lead of the night, 42-26, following two Lee free throws with seven minutes, 39 seconds remaining, in the third quarter.

Still trailing, 44-32, at the 6:07 mark of the third, Bloomfield embarked on a 12-4 run over the next five minutes, with a Jackson layup pulling the Bears to within 48-44. The visitors settled for a 52-47 deficit at the conclusion of the period.

Bloomfield came within one possession at 52-49 after a Nyasia Bryant (Newark, N.J./Arts) layup with 9:17 left in regulation time, but never got closer. By the 4:58 mark, the Golden Falcons had built the spread back to 63-51 and they held on from there. Junior DaShanique Ruffin (Paterson, N.J./PCTI) finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for the Bears (1-5, 0-1).

Felician held the Bears to 1-for-18 shooting from three-point range, and outscored their guests, 25-16, at the foul line. The teams were whistled for a combined 57 personal fouls during a game which lasted two hours, five minutes. Freshman Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden/BG Lulea) netted 10 points for the Golden Falcons before fouling out.

Felician, which was playing for the first time in eight days, won consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 5 and 7, 2019.

The Golden Falcons travel to regionally-ranked Dominican (N.Y.) College on Saturday for another CACC tilt in Orangeburg, N.Y. Tipoff time is 1 p.m.
