Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Felician University was defeated by host Southern New Hampshire University, 89-71, in non-conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Stan Spirou Field House. Southern New Hampshire is ranked No. 4 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll.
Sophomore forward Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) came off the Felician bench to score a career-high 16 points and add six rebounds. Classmate Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J.) collected 16 points and seven rebounds in 22 minutes before fouling out.
SNHU (8-1) was paced by graduate forward Meg Knollmeyer (Hampton, N.H.), who accumulated 22 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Knollmeyer was 9 for 13 from the floor, helping the Penmen to an even 50 percent shooting rate. SNHU graduate guard Karlee Ziliak (Evansville, Ind.) was 6 for 9 from the field and netted 16 points with four assists.
The Penmen took control early. The hosts were ahead, 20-7, following a successful Knollmeyer jump shot with two minutes, 53 seconds, remaining in the first period, and 22-13 at period's end. During the second quarter, SNHU's lead grew to as large as 45-25 after Knollmeyer's layup at the 2:57 mark. The Golden Falcons were able to cut into the deficit during the time that remained and faced a 49-37 halftime shortfall.
The Penmen, however, tallied the first seven points of the second half. Felician clawed to within 57-44 on a Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) three-point field goal at the 5:16 mark of period three, but never drew closer. Midway through the fourth, SNHU took its largest lead at 84-60.
Hahne totaled 13 points and Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J.) finished with 12 points and six rebounds for Felician (4-6). SNHU owned a 45-36 rebounding advantage.
Felician is back in action on December 18 with a 1:30 p.m. non-league contest against Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y.
