Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Dominican (N.Y.) College netted 50 second-half points to pull away for an 80-55 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over host Felician University on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. Dominican (5-1, 4-1 CACC) is ranked No. 4 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll.
Sophomores Damia Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Joseph) and Tiara Mahorn (Irvington, N.J./Irvington) scored nine points each to top Felician (0-4, 0-4). Dominican senior swing player Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J./ICHS-Lodi) led all scorers with 13 points.
The Chargers, who never trailed, scored the game's first seven points, and led by as much as 13-4 in the opening minutes. Felician tied the game with a 9-0 run over the next four minutes spanning the quarter break. Dominican went ahead to stay, 17-15, on a Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J./ICHS-Lodi) jump shot with six minutes, 43 seconds remaining until halftime. With her team still ahead by two, Charger senior Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y./Ursuline School) canned a three-point field goal that touched off an 11-3 run for a 30-20 lead at intermission.
The visitors closed strong again in the third quarter to take control. Once again leading by 10, Dominican outscored the Golden Falcons, 17-5, over the final 4:43 of the period to move ahead, 58-36. The Chargers tallied 10 of their points in the spurt from the foul line. Felician never crept closer than an 18-point deficit during the final 10 minutes.
The Golden Falcons were unable to leverage a 43-36 rebounding advantage. Felician freshman Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada/J. Addison School) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with five points. The hosts were hampered by 29 turnovers, which Dominican converted into 28 points.
Gee finished with 12 points and Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) added 10 points and eight rebounds for Dominican.
