Golden Falcons Slip Past Concordia, 70-67

Box Score

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Felician University sophomore guard Nas Amos (Newark, N.J.) led all scorers with 20 points as the Golden Falcons slipped past host Concordia (N.Y.) College, 70-67, in a tightly-contested Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center.

Felician (4-2, 4-2 CACC) won its second road game in as many days. The Golden Falcons received 16 points and five assists from junior guard Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.), while junior forward Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) amassed 12 points and nine rebounds.

The game featured 11 ties and 12 lead changes, and the teams were never separated by more than six points. Concordia's largest edge came at 22-16 following a Dashaun Galloway (East Orange, N.J.) layup with 8 minutes, 18 seconds, left in the first half, and the Clippers carried a 36-31 lead into halftime.

Felician began the second half with three-point field goals from Colon and Amos for a one-point advantage with 18:36 left in regulation time. The margin was one possession in either direction for all but 90 seconds the rest of the way.

At the 5:18 mark, and out of a Felician timeout, Golden Falcon junior Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.) canned a jump shot to give his team a 65-60 lead. Both teams went cold, and, clinging to a 65-63 edge, Felician coach Ivan Lewis called another timeout at 2:18 which again bore fruit, leading to an Amos layup.

A Kyle Parris (Old Bridge, N.J.) layup pulled the Clippers back to within two. A trade of empty possessions saw the game clock wind under one minute. Amos split a pair of foul shots, allowing a Galloway bucket at 0:34 to slice Concordia's deficit to 68-67. But Felician ran the shot clock down and Amos converted a floater from the left of the lane at 0:04.9. A long tying three attempt from Concordia back-rimmed as time expired.

Xavier Joyner (Beltsville, Md.) came off the bench to lead Concordia with 19 points and Clipper freshman Lucius Brittian (Mansfield, Conn.) had 14 points and nine rebounds. Felician's Davis finished with six points and eight rebounds.

Due to several postponements earlier in the month, Felician plays for the third consecutive day on Sunday. The Golden Falcons host Nyack College at noon in Rutherford.
