Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University women's basketball team came up on the short end of a 49-45 decision to visiting Caldwell University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
Felician sophomore swing player Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J./Irvington) recorded 18 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocked shots. Lee, a 2020 all-CACC performer, returned after missing the Golden Falcons' previous four games due to injury.
Caldwell (3-4, 3-4 CACC) opened a 10-point lead during the second quarter and an 11-point spread in the third. Each time, the Golden Falcons were able to close but not eliminate the gap. Felician netted the final five points of the first half to trail, 26-21, at intermission.
With seven minutes, 26 seconds, left in the third period, the Cougars took their largest lead of the day, 35-24, following a successful Tamrin Henderson (Woodbridge, N.J./Edison) jump shot. This time Felician ended the period on a 10-2 run, capped by a Sarah McSpadden (Melbourne, Australia/Box Hill SSC) three-point field goal, to pull within three.
Both offenses struggled in the final 10 minutes, but Caldwell moved ahead, 45-38 on a steal and transition layup with 4:22 remaining and hung on. The Cougars earned a sweep of teams' two-game regular-season series, with the 49-45 final score the same as the sides' first meeting on Feb. 11.
Freshman Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada/J. Addison School) totaled 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench for Felician (0-8, 0-8), and classmate McSpadden finished with eight points.
