Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – In a likely preview of next week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball playoffs, Felician University was defeated by host Dominican (N.Y.) College, 81-51, in conference action on Thursday evening on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court.
Sophomore swing player Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J.) led Felician with 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Classmate Tiara Mahorn (Irvington, N.J.) totaled 17 points and four steals.
Felician is the likely No. 7 seed and Dominican (8-1, 7-1 CACC) the probable No. 2 seed for the upcoming CACC Championship tournament. Should that form hold, the sides would meet again in first-round playoff action on Tue., Mar. 2, in Orangeburg at a time to be determined.
Dominican used a 9-0 run spanning the quarter break to turn a two-point edge into a 23-12 lead with nine minutes left in the first half. The Chargers carried that same margin, 37-26, into the halftime intermission.
The hosts took full control by beginning period three with a 13-2 run over the first 5 ½ minutes. Felician trailed, 58-37, at the end of the third, and was never within a 20-point deficit thereafter.
The Chargers received 52 points from their non-starters, led by 13 each from junior Naabea-Janaan Assibey-Bonsu (Central Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.). Dominican also was on the receiving end of 37 Golden Falcon turnovers.
