Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Nyack College tallied three times in the first 19 minutes and went on to a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over host Felician University on Wednesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The match marked the end of the regular season for the repositioned CACC Spring 2021 campaign.
Eight of the conference's 13 soccer-playing schools opted into an abbreviated, conference-only spring schedule, and all eight have been invited to next week's CACC Championship tournament. On Wednesday evening the seeds and pairings were announced. The quarterfinals will be contested on Tuesday, April 6, with No. 8 seed Felician (0-5, 0-5 CACC) traveling to Dominican (N.Y.) College at 2 p.m. and No. 3 seed Nyack hosting Georgian Court University at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, Nyack (4-1, 4-1) featured five different goal scorers, with nine players registered at least one point. Junior midfielder Javier Fernandez (Villaviciosa de Odon, Spain/Colegio Alcala) recorded two assists.
The Warriors out-shot Felician, 22-3. Felician sophomore goalkeeper Alex Ficarra (Phillipsburg, N.J./Notre Dame-Green Pond) had six saves. Ficarra leads the CACC this spring with 42 saves and 8.4 saves per game.
Nyack keeper Max Meurer (Wiesbaden, Germany/Hastings College) went the distance in net, earning the shutout with two saves.
