Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ- Felician men's soccer defeats Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Goldey-Beacom, 2-1, on its senior night Saturday evening at Tryon Field.
Prior to the start of the match, the men's soccer team honored its lone senior, Julian Di Leo (Wayne, NJ) on his career as a Golden Falcon.
The first shot of the night was not taken until eight and a half minutes in by Carlos Alonso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) but was saved by the Lightening goalie, Oscar Tengmark. Goldey-Beacom would come back to shoot 2 back-to-back shots in an attempt to be the first on the scoreboard, but no avail as the first shot went wide and the second was saved by keeper Uche Santschi (Bern, Switzerland).
After a Goldey-Beacom foul, Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy) was rewarded with a free-kick at the 30-yard line. Benini booted the ball toward the center of goal but was headed away and into the net by a Lightening player for Felician's first goal of the match, 1-0.
Not long after, Anthony Medina (San Sebastian, Spain) centered the ball from the right side to find Salvador Rang (Doorn, Netherlands) to score and extend the Golden Falcons lead 2-0.
Just a little over a minute into the second half, Goldey-Beacom scored its first and only goal of the match by Dominique Ojeil, assisted from Tiwalade Ogunfadebo to chip away at the Felician lead, 2-1. Despite its efforts, the Golden Falcons ran away with the win and improved its record 7-4-6 overall and 4-3-4 in the CACC.
Rang led the team with 5 shots and one goal, Medina had 3 shots and one assist and Marcos de la Hoz (Madrid, Spain) had 2 shots.
The Golden Falcons prepare to close out its regular season play on Wednesday as they hit the road to face Bloomfield at Foley Field at 7pm.
