Box Score COLCHESTER, VT- The Felician Men's Soccer Team ties St. Michael's College, 2-2, in Colchester, Vermont in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon.
In the match, Felician outshot St. Michael's 15-12 with 10 shots on goal compared to its opponent's 6. The Purple Knights, Drew Kull, opened the score with a header off a corner kick assist from Cooper Goodrich, 1-0. With 5-minutes left to play in the first-half, Salvador Rang (Doorn, Netherlands) was tackled inside the goal box to which he was rewarded a penalty kick. On the kick, St. Michael's keeper blocked the shot and Rang was able to follow the rebound for the tying goal, 1-1, and his first goal of the season.
About 3-minutes into the second half, the Purple Knights were back on top with its second and final goal of the day. On a Felician turnover, St. Michael's was able to quickly turn and send the ball to the right side of the field for a cross into the goal box to find the head of Sean Connelly, 2-1.
The lead was short lived as the trio of Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy), Dario Gomez (Lake Worth, FL), and Carlos Alonso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) aided in the second Felician and tying goal of the match. Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal) kicked off the drive with a cross, but was headed away from net to Gomez. Gomez then short passed to Benini who then chipped it to Alonso (2nd of the season) to score, 2-2.
As the clock winded-down, the match resulted in a tie and Felician men's soccer team is now 5-3-4 overall/2-2-2 CACC.
The men's soccer team will be back in action Saturday night to host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Jefferson University, at Tryon Field at 8:00pm.
