ROCHESTER, NY- Red-shirt Junior, Brianna Lee (Jersey City, NJ), recorded her first double-double of the 2022-2023 season in an 80-61 victory over non-conference opponents and hosts, Roberts Wesleyan, at the Redhawks Classic Friday night.

The guard led the Golden Falcons with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 assists. TheRedhawk, Daniella DiCintio was the leading scorer for the hosts with 17 points.

Felician jumped to an 8-0 start to eventually close out the first quarter 23-15. With 4-mintues to go in the second, the Redhawks cut the lead to four on a Golden Falcons turnover. After a Felician timeout, the squad went on a 9-point run ignited by a Courtney Logan (Riverview, FL) layup and a 3-pointer. With a pair of Lee free-throws, the Golden Falcons entered halftime with a 45-34 lead.

The Redhawks kicked off the third quarter with a three, but Natalie Chappotin (Elizabeth, NJ) answered back with a layup and one of two free-throws. Lee added onto the Golden Falcons lead, 50-39, but after a cold 5-minutes, the home team trailed by 4 to enter the fourth and final quartner. 

For the first time in the game, the Redhawks tied it up at 58 after a DiCintio 3-pointer. Lee bucketed 2 back-to-back threes of her own to put the Golden Falcons back up 64-58. Natalia Lucic (Grindavik, Iceland) eventually put the lead out of reach for the Redhawks with a layup and after a pair of free-throws, resulting in a Golden Falcons opening night win, 80-61.

Felician shot 43.5% from behind the arc while the Redhawks recorded a 31.6 percentage. Chappotin and Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) had 13 points each and coming off the bench, Logan finished the night with 12.

The Golden Falcons have its second match-up of the Redhawks Classic tomorrow afternoon at 2pm as they face Daemen University.
