Box Score WORCESTER, MD – Women's Basketball, Briana Lee, reached 1,000 career points against Assumption University in Worcester, MD Saturday afternoon. The red-shirt junior started the day with a made layup to surpass the milestone; the Greyhounds ultimately ended the game on top winning, 72-41.
The Golden Falcons were led by reserve, Sarah McSpadden's (Melbourne, Australia) 10 points while Natalia Lucic (Grindavik, Iceland) had 8 points and 4 assists and Natalie Chappotin (Elizabeth, NJ) led the team with 6 rebounds.
After Lee's opening layup, Chappotin recorded a lay in of her own before Assumption goes on a run to lead the Golden Falcons 13-4. Felician went on to only score 9 points in the first quarter, while the Greyhounds went into the second with 22.
McSpadden netted a three for the first field goal of the second quarter to put Felician in the double digits, 23-12. After a pair of Assumption free-throws, both teams would not score for almost 3-minutes. Lucic broke the Golden Falcon cold streak with a shot from behind the arc, but the squad would find themselves down by 15 with 4:50 left prior to halftime. Lucic and McSpadden would both record a three to enter halftime, 37-25.
After halftime, Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain) would add two points on the score board from a made jump shot to chip away at the Assumption lead. However, the Greyhounds ran away as they closed out the third quarter, 58-29 to then end the game 72-41.
From behind the arc, McSpadden shot 66% (2-3) while Lucic shot 40% (2-5). The Golden Falcons out rebounded the host, 29-27 while shooting 33.3% as a team.
The Women's Basketball team drops to 1-2 overall and will be back in action on Nov. 26 at Molloy University at 12pm.
