Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician Women's Basketball was in a nailbiter in its first home game after the holiday weekend. The Golden Falcons hosted Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Bloomfield College Thursday evening and made a fourth quarter comeback to win 57-54.
The Golden Falcons were outscored in the first half, 32-23, with Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) holding 10 of those points. Coming out of halftime, the hosts got a second wind to slowly chip away at the Bears lead.
A Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain) three-pointer and an Aisha Traore (Bronx, NY) layup ignited the Felician offense to trail by 10 midway through the third. Eventually, Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) netted a jumper of her own to enter the final stanza with a 4-point deficit.
Five and a half minutes left to play, the Golden Falcons sees its first lead of the night, 50-48, after a Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) midrange jumper. Bloomfield was given the chance to tie it up at 50 after a pair of free throws to then take back the lead, 54-53 and with under a minute left to play, Uchidiuno was sent to the line to sink one for the tie at 54. Felician gained back possesion on a Bears turnover for a time out to draw up one final play of the game.
After a Felician time-out, Courtney Logan (Riverview, FL) bucketed a three from the top of the key to give the Golden Falcons a safety net lead, 57-54. Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) quickly snagged a steal to clinch the win.
Lee ended the night leading all Felician scorers with 22-points and 18 rebounds. Logan had 11 points, Uchidiuno had 7 points and 5 rebounds, and Andres finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
With tonight's win, the Golden Falcons improve to 2-1 in the CACC and 5-4 overall. The women's basketball squad will be back in action this Saturday at Jefferson University for another CACC match-up at noon.
