Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University redshirt sophomore swing player Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J./Irvington) set a career scoring high for the second consecutive game, but the Golden Falcons were defeated by visiting Post University, 85-71, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball action on Saturday evening at Job Gymnasium. The game marked the end of the 2021-22 regular season for both schools.
Both teams will host a CACC quarterfinal game on Tuesday. Felician (12-14, 10-7) is the CACC North Division's No. 2 seed, and will entertain Thomas Jefferson University, the No. 3 seed from the South Division, at 6 p.m. in Rutherford as part of the eight-team, single-elimination conference championship tournament.
Lee scored 31 points on Saturday, shooting 12 for 15 from the floor and 7 for 7 at the foul line. She added nine rebounds and four steals in 35 minutes before fouling out with just over a minute remaining. Her previous career high was 29 points, set just five days earlier in a victory over Caldwell University.
Post (18-7, 12-5) emerged from a closely-contested first half with a 38-36 lead. The Eagles never trailed after intermission. They were up by as many as nine points on two occasions during the third period before exiting with a 64-58 advantage.
The visitors then pulled way early in the fourth, beginning the quarter with a 10-2 spurt over the first 3 ½ minutes for a 14-point lead. Felician was unable to make a serious dent, and a Jaeonna Sutton (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King) three-point field goal with 2:39 to play handed the Eagles their largest spread of the night, 83-65.
The victory gave Post outright possession of the CACC North regular-season championship. Junior guard Sha'Raya Haines (Springfield, Mass./Putnam Science Academy) scored 33 points and senior guard Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield Tech) had 22 points and five assists.
Sophomore Sarah McSpadden (Melbourne, Australia/Box Hill SSC) totaled a season-high 11 points for Felician and freshman Courtney Logan (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) added eight. Prior to the game, Felician honored Destiny Esquilin (Vineland, N.J./Vineland), Damia Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Joseph's) and Niaimani Marshall (Jersey City, N.J./Suffield Academy [Conn.]) in a Senior Night ceremony.
