Box Score JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Felician University redshirt junior wing Etnik Peci (Pristina, Kosovo) led all scorers with a season-high 25 points as the Golden Falcons defeated host Nyack College, 84-81, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball action on Thursday night at the John J. Moore Athletic Center.
Peci was 9 for 14 from the field, including 6 of 9 from three-point range. He added four rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes. Peci guided Felician (11-7, 6-4 CACC) to 54 percent shooting for the game, including a 13 of 25 clip (52 percent) from distance.
Peci led four double-figure scorers for Felician. Junior Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.) was 7 of 11 from the floor and netted 19 points. Sophomore Nas Amos (Newark, N.J.) totaled 16 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Golden Falcons, while junior Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.) added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The game was scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. tipoff but began at nearly 8:55 due to the length of the preceding women's contest. Felician started slowly, falling behind, 15-2, after five minutes. The Golden Falcons closed the gap to 19-17 before a successful Luis Escobar (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) jump shot slowed the visitors' comeback. Felician, however, then embarked on a game-changing 15-0 run – including 10 points from Colon – and never trailed again. A pair of late Omar Ramos (Sicklerville, N.J.) free throws put the Golden Falcons ahead, 43-30, at halftime.
Consecutive three-pointers by Peci and Davis handed Felician its largest advantage of the night at 63-45 with 13:13 left in regulation time. Still up by 14 at the 1:44 mark, the Golden Falcons held off a furious Warrior rally. Nyack forced a turnover and took advantage of two missed 1-and-1 free throw front ends to close to 78-71 at 0:34. From that point, Felician went 6 for 10 from the foul line, enough to hang on.
Junior forward Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) flirted with a triple-double for Felician before finishing with eight points, nine rebounds and a career-high eight assists. Senior Joel Bailey (St. Catherine, Jamaica) had 19 points and five assists and classmate Isayas Aris (Chicago, Ill.) added 18 points and nine rebounds for Nyack (7-9, 5-5).
Felician is on the road on Saturday, facing Goldey-Beacom College at 3 p.m. in a CACC affair in Wilmington, Del.
