Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University redshirt sophomore forward/guard Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J/Irvington) recorded 19 points and 20 rebounds as the Golden Falcons defeated visiting Wilmington (Del.) University, 62-57, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball action on Monday evening at Job Gymnasium.
The win allowed Felician (9-11, 7-4 CACC) to move into sole possession of first place in the CACC North Division. The Golden Falcons, who have six conference games remaining, are a half-game ahead of second-place Post University. At season's end, the top four schools in the six-team North Division will advance to the conference championship tournament, with the top two hosting quarterfinal contests.
Lee enjoyed her third game with 20+ rebounds this season and the fifth of her career. Her 13.5 rebounds per game lead the NCAA Division II East Region and are third nationally in Division II. Graduate guard Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) and freshman guard Courtney Logan (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) scored 12 points each for Felician.
The game was tied, 47-47, following two successful free throws by Wilmington senior center Sabreen Muslim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City) with five minutes, 58 seconds, remaining in regulation time. Felician took the lead for good on its next possession with two Lee foul shots, touching off a 11-2 run over the next 2 ½ minutes for a nine-point edge. Andres scored five points and Logan four during the decisive spurt. Wilmington came as close as 61-57 following Skylar Parris's (Cliffwood Beach, N.J./Matawan Regional) jump shot at the 0:42 mark, but Felician obtained the defensive stops it needed during the closing seconds.
Wilmington junior Emily Ansah (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) was 9 for 12 from the field and totaled 21 points and 15 rebounds. Muslim scored 15 points with seven rebounds and freshman Jade Roberts (Ashburn, Va./Middleburg Academy) had eight points and 10 assists for the Wildcats (1-15, 1-10). Felician's Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada/J. Addison School) recorded eight points and four rebounds in 15 bench minutes.
Wilmington led, 7-1, after 6 ½ minutes, and 15-8 after one period. Felician rebounded to move ahead, 29-27, at halftime and 45-41 after three quarters.
Felician puts a three-game win streak on the line on Thursday, when it hosts Georgian Court University in a 7:30 p.m. makeup game in Rutherford.
