Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Sophomore forward Erick Aguiar (Praia, Cape Verde/Miraflores) tallied four first-half goals to lead Felician University to an 8-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over visiting D'Youville University on Sunday afternoon at Tryon Field. Felician (1-1) was playing its 2022 home opener.
The goal total by Aguiar and his team were both the most by the Golden Falcons in 11 years. Felician set a single-game scoring record with a 12-0 home win over Lincoln (Pa.) University on Sept. 8, 2011. During that match, Jadean Blasse established the individual team mark, notching five goals.
Freshman Dario Gomez (Lake Worth, Fla./Santaluces Community) picked up his first collegiate goal for Felician. The hosts also received scores from transfers Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal/Daniel Sampiao), Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy/Maneoni) and Anthony Medina (San Sebastian, Spain/IES Usandizaga Bhi).
Felician opened the scoring just four minutes, 13 seconds, into the action when Salvador Rang (Doorn, Netherlands/Revius) pounced onto a rebound and centered to Aguiar, who buried an open attempt. Ramos netted a free kick during the 22nd minute, and Aguiar scored three times in a nine-minute span to put the Golden Falcons up by five. Benini's unassisted score with 2:08 showing on the halftime clock allowed the hosts a 6-0 edge at the break.
Rang finished with two assists. Felician accumulated advantages of 39-4 in shots and 8-2 in corner kicks. Sophomore Uche Santschi (Bern, Switzerland/WKS KV Bildung Bern) played the first half in goal for the Golden Falcons, earning the victory with one save.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ethan Picard (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne) made 13 saves in 84 minutes for D'Youville (0-2).
The only other Felician player to score at least four goals in a game beside Blasse and Aguiar is Jamal Brown, who holds the school record of 12 points with four goals and four assists during a 12-1 victory over Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University) during the Golden Falcons' inaugural 1996 campaign.
Felician remains in Rutherford to take on Assumption College on Friday at 3 p.m.
