Box Score Rutherford, NJ- Felician University men's soccer team surrendered a tying goal, 1-1, midway through the second half to Caldwell University in their first conference match of the season Wednesday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Coming into today, the Golden Falcons were on a 3-game win streak on their home turf, including a clutch win over the formerly undefeated Bloomsburg University last Saturday.
The newly regionally ranked Golden Falcons clinched their only goal of the afternoon in the 25th minute by Sophomore Anthony Medina (San Sebastian, Spain) from a rebound of a blocked shot by Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy).
After a hard Felician foul, Caldwell gained momentum at the 72-minute mark. Israel Dos Santos Neto centered the ball from the left side of the field finding the foot of Chris Ferri to sneak past Uche Santschi (Bern, Switzerland) to tie the score, 1-1.
Coming down to the final minutes, Felician was looking for the goal that was going to seal the deal for the match. Erick Aguiar (Praia, Cape Verde) had an open look, but footed the ball just left of the goal resulting the match in a tie.
Both teams had 14 shots total, but Caldwell had 7 shots on goals compared to Felician's 5. Cougar keeper, Dylan Valencia, managed to save 4 of the 5 Golden Falcon's shots and Felician's Santschi saved 6.
The Golden Falcons are now 3-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the CACC. The team will be back in action this Saturday as they hit the road to face Holy Family at 2:30pm.
