Two Second Half Goals Push Holy Family Past Felician, 3-1

Philadelphia, Pa.- The Golden Falcons Men's Soccer Team, who are No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches ranking, surrendered two second half goals to be defeated by the Tigers, 3-1, in a CACC match-up at Tiger Field Saturday afternoon.

Joel Richmond, Gavin Rowan, and Marcelo Ibarra each recorded a goal in the win and winning keeper Luke Shank made seven 7 for the Tigers.

In the 30th-minute, Anthony Media (San Sebastian, Spain) controlled the ball on the left side of the goal and centered the ball to Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy) who managed to record the first and only goal for Felician. However, the lead was short lived as Holy Family was able to score a goal of their own by Marcelo Ibarra, assisted by Joel Richmond, to make it a 1-1 game going into the second half.

As the second half was underway, the Tigers managed to find their groove and was able to tally two more goals, Joel Richmond and Gavin Rowan, to run away with the lead, 3-1.

Despite the Tigers win, Felician out-shot their CACC opponent 23-7, with 16 of their 23 shots taken in the second half. Benini ended the match with 6 shots, 2 on goal, and 1 goal and Salvador Rang (Doorne, Netherlands) had 5 shots and 3 on goal.

Felician trails Holy Family in the all-time series with a 10-14-1 record. They were able to clutch their 10th win of the series last season in double overtime, 3-2.

The Golden Falcons are now 3-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the CACC. They'll be back on their home turf at Tryon Field next Tuesday as they continue conference play against Alliance University at noon.
