Box Score Rutherford, NJ- Red-Shirt Sophomore, Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy), scored a pair of goals to propel Felician's men's soccer team over Alliance University, former Nyack College, 2-0, for their first conference win of the season at Tryon Field Tuesday afternoon.
In a scoreless first half, both teams struggled to find their sweet spot as Felician recorded only 6 shots over Alliance's 3. The Golden Falcons managed to get one shot on goal, but it was kicked directly at the keeper, Marco Roessle, for a save.
Fast forward to the second half, Anthony Media (San Sebastian, Spain) was the first Golden Falcon to attempt a shot, but no avail as it resulted wide. About 4-minutes later, Marcos de la Hoz (Madrid, Spain) headed the ball up and over from the keeper but bounced off the cross bar and away from the goal.
Benini came alive at the 67-minute mark when he notched his first goal of the game from 10-yards out. Salvador Rang (Doorne, Netherlands) attempted to cross the ball to the middle of the goal box but was headed out and found the foot of Benini who booted the ball into the lower right corner of the net, putting Felician up, 1-0.
With just under 10-minutes to play, Benini put the game away for the Golden Falcons as he darted from the right-side corner to bounce the ball under the keeper for his second goal of the day, 4th of the season, to put Felician up 2-0.
Felician keeper Uche Santshi (Bern, Netherlands) earned his third shutout of the season and recorded 2 saves this afternoon.
Felician improves their CACC record to 1-1-1 and they are now 4-2-2 overall. The men's soccer team will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to Georgian Court for another CACC match up at 2:30pm.
