Box Score Waterbury, CT- Felician men's soccer team (4-3-3, 1-2-2 CACC) falls, 3-0, to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Post University (6-3, 4-1 CACC) in Waterbury, CT at LaMoy Field Wednesday afternoon.
Coming into today's match, the Eagles were on a 4-game winning streak, 3 of them being against CACC contenders, before their loss to Wilmington (Del.). The Golden Falcons are also looking to get back into the winner's circle after a 1-1 tie with Georgian Court last Saturday.
In the opening minutes, Felician was able to tally the first 4 shots of the game by Anthony Gomez (Lake Worth, FL), Riccardo Benini (Bologna, Italy), Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal), and Marcos de la Hoz (Madrid, Spain), but none of them found the back of the net. Just a little after the 16th minute, Post's Stephen Sprowson sent the ball down the field to Artiz Uriate Alonso for the first goal of the game, 1-0. Right before the end of the first, Post was able to extend their lead, 2-0, on a goal by Nicholas Anagnostiadis and to put the game out of reach, Post was able to notch their final goal of the match, 3-0, with 3 minutes left to play on a double assisted goal (Angel Morales and Alberto Solaeta) by Charles Aliberch.
Going into the second half, Felician was outshot 8-5 and after 2-halves Post recorded 14 shots compared to Felician's 8. Benini (1 shot on goal) and Ramos led the Golden Falcons with 2 shots a piece. Freshman goalkeeper, Pedro Bonfa (San Paulo, Brazil), made his first starting appearance for the season and he faced 10 shots, saving 7 of them.
The Golden Falcons will be back in action Saturday to host Chestnut Hill at Newark Academy in Livingston, NJ for their annual Homecoming event at 8:30pm.
