Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Felician University men's soccer team continued to match its best start to a season in 10 years, but settled for a 2-2 tie at Molloy College on Tuesday night in non-conference action at the RVC Sports Complex.
Sophomores Alex Ramos (Almada, Portugal) and Erick Aguiar (Praia, Cape Verde) netted first-half goals for Felician (2-1-1). Molloy drew even with a pair of scores during the match's final 11 minutes. An NCAA rule change for the 2022 season eliminated overtime periods during regular-season competition.
Ramos opened the scoring during the game's 19th minute by connecting from 35 yards away. The Golden Falcons used solid teamwork late in the opening period to open a two-goal edge. A throw-in by Gianluca Trastulli (Rome, Italy) was headed by Henry Calix (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) to the foot of Aguiar, who lofted a shot over the head of the goalkeeper but under the crossbar 3:59 before the intermission.
Both teams hit a goalpost with a shot during the early stages of the second half. But the 2-0 score held until the game clock wound under 11 minutes when Lion sophomore Gio Fabiano (Carle Place, N.Y.) emerged from a scramble to slip a ball past Felician sophomore goalkeeper Uche Santschi (Bern, Switzerland) with 10:31 to play. Fabiano, who had played earlier in the contest, had checked back into the game moments earlier.
Molloy gained the equalizer with 3:06 remaining. Danny Muir (Massapequa, N.Y.) served a ball across the 18-yard box that teammate Sean Salgueiro (Little Neck, N.Y.) headed inside the far post. Felician had a last-gasp chance, gaining a corner kick in the closing seconds, but was not dangerous.
Aguiar led Felician with four shots. Santschi was credited with three saves. The Golden Falcons have not started a season as well as this one since 2012, when they were also 2-1-1.
The Golden Falcons return home on Saturday to face Bloomsburg University at 6 p.m. at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J.
