Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician women's basketball outscores Caldwell 29-16 in the third quarter to propel the squad over its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent for the 84-61 win in JJJ Gymnasium Tuesday night.
Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) led all Golden Falcon scorers with 21-points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) had 18-points and 2 assists while Mimmi Hahne (Sollentune, Sweden) had 11-points, 2 assists and 2 steals. As a team, Felician shot 54.5 percent (12-22) from behind the arc, aided by Catherine Lecop's (Madrid, Spain) 75 three-point percentage (3-4).
After a 6-6 tie, the Golden Falcons netted three back-to-back three pointers from Lecop, Andres, and Lee to go on a 9-4 run to eventually hold the lead for the remainder of the game. Caldwell would steadily try to wear away the deficit, but Felician ended up going into halftime with a 37-24 advantage.
Felician came out of the half firing as Lee laid in a two pointer and Lecop posted another trey, 45-28. After Aisha Traore (Bronx, NY) went one-for-two from the line, the Golden Falcons sat comfortably with a 30-point lead. A minute later, the Cougars bucketed a three of their own mid-way through the third, but Lee and Hahne answered back with more green and gold points.
During the final stanza, Felician failed to record a point for approximately four minutes to allow the Cougars to go on a 6-0 run. Lee put an end to the opposer push as the Golden Falcons continued to increase its score. Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) capped off the night with a midrange jumper and Felician secured the 84-61 win.
Felician women's basketball improved to 5-6 in the CACC and 8-10 overall. The Golden Falcons will be back in action this Saturday to host another conference double-header against Goldey-Beacom at 1:00pm.
