Box Score BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Felician Women's Basketball found themselves in extra minutes with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponents, Bloomfield College, Tuesday night. Four Golden Falcons posted double-figures to secure the 79-69 win.
Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) and Aisha Traore (Bronx, NY) finalized the night with a double-double as Lee led all Golden Falcons scorers with 24-points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals while Traore had 14-points and 14 rebounds. Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) shot 55% from the field (5-9) with 15-points and 6 assists and Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) had 14-ponts. Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain) had 6 assists.
The Golden Falcons went into the second quarter with an eight-point lead. From there, the Bears would outscore Felician 26-12 to enter halftime with a 34-28 advantage. Hahne, Lee, and Traore were able to clinch 6-points in the paint to tie it up at 34 during the first few minutes of the third quarter. Despite the tie, Bloomfield went on a 12-9 run to enter the final stanza with the score showing 46-43 in favor of the Bears.
Mid way through the fourth, the Bears held an eight-point lead until the Golden Falcons found its groove to diminish the deficit. After Andres's clutch three-pointer and a pair of free throws from Lee, the score was tied at 59 with under two-minutes left. At the 30-second mark, Lee netted a layup to head to the line for the 3-point play and the 62-61 lead. Bloomfield swiftly answered back with a freebee of its own to send the game into extra minutes.
The Golden Falcons opened up overtime with a 9-2 run to get out in front 71-64 with two-minutes to play. Andres recorded 5 back-to-back points to put Felician up by 11 to ultimately close out the night with a 79-69 win.
After tonight's result, the Golden Falcons improve to 9-13 overall and 6-9 in the CACC. Felician women's basketball will be back in action in JJJ Gymnasium this Saturday, Feb. 18, to face the University of Bridgeport for its Senior Day starting at 1:00pm.
