Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician Women's Basketball shot over 50 percent in the second half of play to edge Alliance University, 71-49, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Match-Up Wednesday night.
Overall, the green-and-gold shot 44.4 percent from the field and 32 percent around the perimeter. Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) paced the way with another season double-double posting 16-points and 12 rebounds. Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) recorded 11 points and 4 assists and Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) had 10 points. Aside from scoring, Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) grabbed 10-rebounds and Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain) had 5 assists and snagged 4 steals.
By the end of the first quarter, the Golden Falcons found themselves tied with Alliance at 13. After another second quarter tie at 15, Uchidiuno netted a jumper to give Felician the lead and to hold for the rest of the night. Andres posted a pair of free throws to give the squad an 11-point lead going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Golden Falcons shot 58 percent from the field and went 4-9 behind the arc to secure 26 points. Andres would kick off the heightened offense with a jumper and a steal to convert the Alliance turnover to a lay in for back-to-back points in under a minute. Later in the third, Aisha Traore (Bronx, NY) posted a bucket of her own to give the Golden Falcons a 51-32 advantage.
Felician led 75-39 with 2 minutes left to play when Rosie Arias (Linden, NJ) recorded a three and Natalie Chappotin (Elizabeth, NJ) capped off the night with a freebee to edge Alliance, 76-41.
Women's Basketball improves to 11-13 overall and 8-9 in the CACC. The Golden Falcons will be back in action this Saturday to face Post University in Waterbury, CT at 1:00pm.
