Box Score WATERBURY, CT – Women's Basketball closed out its regular season with a loss to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Post University, Saturday afternoon in Waterbury, CT.
Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) posted another season double-double with 27-points, shooting 11-19 from the field, 12 rebounds and four assists while Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) had 13 points and one steal. Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) also finished in double figures with 12 points shooting 2-3 from behind the arc.
The Eagles jumped out in front early with the quick 10-2 lead 4-minutes into regulation. After a 15-10 Post run, the Golden Falcons were trialing 25-12 to start the second quarter. Andres clinched a pair of free throws and a jumper to put Felician within nine of the Eagles advantage. After a hard drive into the paint, Lee was sent to the line to secure a three-point play to trail 25-21. In a back and forth quarter, the score sat 37-33 going into halftime in favor of Post.
Mid way through the third, the Golden Falcons saw its first lead of the day after a Lee three-pointer, 40-39. The Eagles would answer back with a pair of free throws to have the score flip-flop until the final tie at 46 as Post went on a 9-6 run to enter the final stanza leading 55-52.
Felician was just a basket away from equalizing once again when Aisha Traore (Bronx, NY) netted a layup. However, the Eagles dominated the scoreboard to sweep the Golden Falcons in the season series with the 74-62 win.
As the regular season comes to a close, the women's basketball squads finished 11-14 overall and 8-10 in the CACC. The squad will enter post season play as the #3 seed in the North Division to face the South Division #2 seed, and regionally ranked squad, Holy Family University, for the CACC quarterfinals in Philadelphia, PA at 6:00pm.
