Box Score PHILADELPHIA, PA – Felician Women's Basketball were the N#3 Seed heading into tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals as they went up against S#2 Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA Tuesday night. As a result, the Golden Falcon playoff run has come to end after the 71-62 loss.
In the previous meeting between the two squads on Jan. 7, the Golden Falcons were defeated 56-45 with Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain) leading all green-and-gold scorers with 9.
Tonight, First Team All-CACC Honoree, Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) paced the offense with 26 points, grabbed 10 boards, four steals, and two assists. Lecop had nine points shooting 2-3 from behind the arc with four assists and Aisha Traore (Bronx, NY) had eight points and five rebounds.
After the first quarter, the Golden Falcons had the 9-7 advantage over the Tigers when Lecop netted a three. The hosts went into the second quarter blazing to out score Felician 26-14 to go into halftime with 33-23 score in favor of Holy Family.
Traore was sent to the line with 2 and a half minutes left in the third to cut the Tiger deficit to 6. Niaimani Marshall (Newark, NJ) snagged a defensive rebound with 10-seconds left in the quarter to find ultimately find Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) for the buzzer beater jumper to enter the final stanza trailing, 44-38.
Both squads scored big in the fourth as Holy Family posted 27 points while Felician had 24. The Golden Falcons would get as close as 5 points in an attempt to tie the Tiger lead, but eventually dropped to the #2 Seed, 71-62, to put an end to the season.
