Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician Women's Basketball was defeated by Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Goldey-Beacom, 70-54, in a Saturday afternoon contest in JJJ Gymnasium.
Felician opened up the first quarter of play with a 14-4 run on points from Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ), Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ), Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) and Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain). Courtney Logan (Riverview, FL) would enter the game to clinch a three with 17-seconds left in the first to give the Golden Falcons a 22-16 lead. The Lightening battled back from the deficit to tie it up at 30 with a bucket from behind the arc. Lee would score to break the tie with a lay-in and Hahne would close the first half with a mid-range jumper to enter halftime 34-30, in favor of the Golden Falcons.
In the third quarter, Felician was held to a crippling 6-points compared to the Lightening's 24. Hahne would score during Felician's first possession to extend its lead to six, but the hosts went cold for 5-minutes to allow the Lightening to apply the offensive pressure. The visiting squad eventually reached a 10-point advantage, 49-39, with 2-minutes left in the third.
As the final stanza rolled around, Lee scored 11 of her 26-points in an attempt to put the Golden Falcons back into the game as they trailed 57-40. Ultimately, the Lightening would see its largest lead of the night at 19 to put the game out of reach for the Golden Falcons as the game resulted in a 70-54 loss.
Hahne posted 10-points and Andres had 5. Lee grabbed 15 rebounds and had 5 steals.
Women's Basketball sits 8-11 overall and 5-7 in conference play. Felician will be back on the hardwood next Wednesday at Dominican (N.Y.) University at 5:30pm.
