Box Score ORANGEBURG, NY – Mimmi Hahne (Sollentuna, Sweden) and Briana Lee (Jersey City, NJ) post 20-points apiece in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up against Dominican (N.Y.) University Wednesday Night.
In a back-and-forth night, the Golden Falcons and Chargers battled for the lead as there were six ties and eight lead changes. The green and gold held a 5-point lead over the hosts with 8:24 left to play, however, the Chargers went on a 14-2 run to shift the score in their favor, 67-60, to ultimately run away with the 78-73 win.
Lee and Hahne led the Golden Falcon scorers with 20-points, while Lee crashed the boards with 16-rebounds. Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, NJ) and Natalie Chappotin (Elizabeth, NJ) both at 8-points and Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain) had 5 assists and 4 steals.
Dominican saw its largest lead of the night after a three-point jumper, but Lecop netted a bucket to cut the deficit to six to end the first quarter, 27-21. The Golden Falcons would go almost 4-minutes without a point to start the second to allow the Chargers to push its lead back to 10. With under 2-minutes left, Hahne clinched a three-pointer (4-for-6 for the night) while Andres went one for two from the line to trail by 2 going into halftime.
Midway through the third, the Golden Falcons tied it up at 41 from a Lecop layup then Hahne gave the squad a 44-42 lead after dropping another three. Three of the score ties were held in the third as Felician was able to close out the quarter with the 53-51 advantage. With an 8-2 run in the works, the Golden Falcons held its largest lead of the night, 58-53, after an Andres bucket from behind the arc.
Dominican put on the defensive edge as they held Felician to 60-points long enough for them to take the lead and secure the 78-73 conference win.
Women's Basketball drops to 8-12 overall and 5-8 in conference play. The Golden Falcons will be back at home in JJJ Gymnasium this Saturday to host another conference match-up against Georgian Court at 1:00pm.
