Ravazza Nets Four Against Lake Erie

RUTHERFORD, NJ – Women's Lacrosse Freshman, Julia Ravazza (Dublin, CA), netted four goals in the, 14-13, overtime loss to Lake Erie College at Tryon Field in Rutherford Tuesday afternoon.

Throughout the contest, there were six ties and two lead changes as the Storm secured the win. The visitors put two on the board within the first few minutes of play. Tala Marzooq (Ewing, NJ) gave the Golden Falcons its first goal followed by Paige Merz (Ogdensburg, NY) one minute later to tie it up at 2. By the end of the first quarter, Lake Erie found the back of the net two more times for the 4-2 lead.

In the second, Ravazza caged two of her four goals when she started off with an unassisted goal to cut the opposer deficit back to two, 6-4, and then to one with a free position goal, 7-6. With under a minute left to play, Saoirse O'Connor (Newport, RI) recorded another for the green-and-gold to tie it at 7 going into intermission. 

Felician saw its first lead of the afternoon after Ravazza's third goal from Merz to put the Golden Falcons up 8-7. The Storm was able to flip the score back in its favor to have the 10-9 advantage going into the final stanza.

Prior to overtime, the Golden Falcons posted three back-to-back goals to take the 13-12 lead with approximately two and a half minutes left to play. At the 20-second mark, the Storm once again tied it up to send the game into extra minutes. 

It was not long into overtime for the visiting squad to net the golden goal. With 30-second trimmed away, the Storm handed Felician its second loss of the 2023 season as the host droped 14-13. 

Ravazza led the Golden Falcon offense with four goals, on 10 shots. Merz recorded three goals and one assist while Marzooq, O'Connor and Janea Kelty (West Milford, NJ) had two goals apiece. Felician keeper, Ilyanna Rivera (Waterford, CT) saved 9 shots.

Women's Lacrosse sits 1-2 overall and they will be back in action this Saturday to travel to Buffalo, NY for a match-up with D'Youville at 11:00am.
