Box Score LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The pattern at Georgian Court continues as the Men's Basketball squad clinched the win in the final moments Saturday afternoon.
Earlier Saturday afternoon, the women's basketball squad clinched the win after being down seven with a minute and a half remaining. Men's basketball continued the pattern for the green-and-gold and came back for the 68-65 victory in the final minutes of regulation.
Here's What Happened:
- During the first half, the Golden Falcons went 12-39 from the field… 10 of those made field goals were from behind the arc by seven green-and-gold shooters: Jay'von Jackon (Plainfield, N.J.), Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.), Tavian Pullock (Paterson, N.J.), Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J.), Julius David Jr. (East Rutherford, N.J.) Alex Balbuena (Bronx, N.Y.). and Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.).
- By the end of the first half, the Golden Falcons sat out in front of the Lions with a seven-point lead, 38-31. Despite, Georgian Court struggling to find their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win of the season… they gave the Golden Falcons a run for their money.
- The second quarter had the Lions outscoring Felician by four and they forced the Golden Falcons into a seven-point deficit, 51-58, on a three with 7:47 remaining in regulation.
- With the help of Colon, McRae and Fitzpatrick, the squad equalized the score at 60, took the lead with a freebee, 61-60, but another score flip occurred when a Lion was fouled behind the arc, 61-65.
- As time fizzled into the final seconds, Felician went 5-5 from the charity stripe to capture the lead and ultimately the 68-65 victory.
Box Score Insights:
- Colon led the green-and-gold with 17 points and Fitzpatrick was right behind with 16-points and nine rebounds. Jackson posted a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds while David Jr. posted seven points.
- There were six score ties and eight lead changes throughout the cross-over contest. The Golden Falcons went 77% (13-17) from the free-throw line to aid in the Saturday afternoon victory.
- Felician outrebounded the Lions, 39-36, and the Golden Falcons forced 18 host turnovers for a converted 12 points.
Men's Basketball (12-12 / 8-5 CACC) will return to action on Tuesday in Bridgeport, C.T. to face off with the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport at 7:30pm
