Box Score SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Felician College men's basketball team nearly rallied from a seven-point deficit in the final two minutes, 13 seconds, before falling, 61-60, to host St. Thomas Aquinas College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Aquinas Hall. Senior center John Tello (Ridgefield Park, NJ) led Felician (5-9) with 16 points and eight rebounds.
A three-point field goal by Golden Falcon junior Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) tied the game at 52-52 with 5:38 to play. St. Thomas Aquinas junior Dane Dixon (Uniondale, NY) then scored the first four points of a 7-0 run for the hosts. Felician, however, forced turnovers on three of STAC's next four possessions, cutting its deficit to 61-60 at 0:50.
The Spartans (6-8) ran down the shot clock on their next possession, but missed on a jumper and Felician rebounded. Out of a timeout at 0:06.3, Obery's lob pass from the left sideline was intercepted by Dixon, who was fouled. Dixon missed the front end of a one-and-one, but STAC's Irin Stark (Bronx, NY) rebounded and was also fouled with 3.3 ticks remaining. Stark also misfired, but Felician's Tajric Boggs (Coram, NY) could only get off a desperation heave from just inside midcourt.
Justin Brown (Uniondale, NY) led four double-figure scorers for STAC with 18 points, including the 1,000th of his career. Boggs had 11 points and five rebounds and Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, NJ) came off the bench to net nine points for the Golden Falcons, who were hampered by 32-percent shooting from the floor.
Felician led by as many as 11 points on two occasions in the first half. The Spartans however, ended the period with an 11-1 run over the final 5:13 to trail just 27-26 at halftime.
