Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Felician College men's basketball team put five scorers in double figures, but allowed host Johnson C. Smith University to shoot 57 percent from the floor in an 88-77 non-conference loss to the Golden Bulls on Saturday night at Brayboy Gymnasium. The setback left Felician with a split of its two games at the JCSU Tip-Off Classic.
The Golden Falcons (2-1) had trouble containing JCSU returning All-American Trevin Parks (Hickory, N.C.). The senior guard shot 12-for-19 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range, and made 7 of 8 free-throw attempts to finish with 36 points. He added eight assists and three steals in 33 minutes.
Felician was down by as many as 11 points in the first half before recovering to trail only 45-43 at halftime. Sophomore forward Jarryd Horsley-Fordham (Orange, N.J.) helped close the gap with six points in the final two minutes of the period. After Parks scored the first basket of the second half, the Golden Falcons ran off eight points in a row for a 51-47 advantage.
JCSU (3-0) then took control with a 16-3 run to go ahead by nine points with 12:08 to play, a spurt which included eight points by Parks. A Parks three-pointer at the 9:22 mark gave the Golden Bulls their largest lead, 70-58. Felician cut its deficit to six on three occasions, the last time on an Antoine Obery (Roselle, N.J.) lay-up with 2:20 remaining, but never got closer.
Horsley-Fordham (5-8 FG) finished with career highs of 14 points and eight rebounds. Felician senior David Williamson (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 11 points, while Obery, Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, N.J.), and Tajric Boggs (Coram, N.Y.) each totaled 10.
