Road Woes Continue For Golden Falcons

Box Score

NYACK, N.Y. – The Felician College men's basketball team dropped to 0-7 in road games this season with a 70-69 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference setback to host Nyack College on Tuesday night at Bowman Gymnasium.

A pair of made free throws by Nyack sophomore guard Chris Hampton (Queens, N.Y.) with 4.5 seconds left in regulation provided the winning margin. Hampton led all players on the night with 23 points and added four assists.

The lead changed hands three times in the final minute of action. After Felician senior Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, N.J.) split a pair at the foul line to leave the visitors with a 67-65 advantage at the 1:03 mark, Hampton buried a three-point field goal with a hand in his face at 0:45 to put his team ahead by one. The Golden Falcons went back ahead on a putback by senior Antoine Obery (Roselle, N.J.) with 10.4 ticks remaining, their third shot attempt in the sequence.

On the ensuing possession, Hampton was fouled while driving to the basket, and was unaffected by a Felician timeout between his foul shot attempts. Afterward, Golden Falcon guard Tajric Boggs (Coram, N.Y.) took the inbound pass and raced upcourt, but his rushed shot from the right baseline was no-good off the front rim.

Obery was a rebound shy of his fifth consecutive double-double, registering team highs of 16 points, nine boards and three steals. Ayotunde Oyeniyi (Lagos, Nigeria) netted 12 points and Green scored 11 for Felician (6-10, 4-5 CACC), which wasted a 43-28 rebounding advantage.

Hampton was backed by 17 points and nine assists from sophomore guard Khalid Samuels (Mount Vernon, N.Y.). Freshman Will Robinson (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) picked up 12 points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench for the Warriors (3-13, 1-8).

Felician led, 23-13, in the early going before settling for a 34-30 halftime advantage. The Golden Falcons led by seven with 9:28 left in regulation before Nyack embarked on a 12-0 run to assume its largest lead, 61-56, at the 5:02 mark. The Golden Falcons then flipped the script, crafting a 10-2 spurt for a 66-63 edge as the game clock approached the final minute.

Felician has dropped 15 consecutive (non-neutral) road contests following a win against Nyack at Bowman last season.
